Instrument Petting Zoo

A few weeks ago, we teamed up with Stetson's Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota to give an instrument petting zoo at the Little House Next Door. We got to teach some adorable kids from the VPK program about our instruments. We first performed short songs on each instrument, and then they got the opportunity to try playing them on their own. Many of the kids had never had an opportunity like that before, to explore music and to think of the possibility of learning a musical instrument in the near or far future. At the end, we asked them if they each had a favorite instrument they might like to learn, and many of them did. It was interesting because they all had different favorite instruments for varying reasons according to their personalities and interests. It was really cool to see, and everyone had a blast! Even some of the college kids tried an instrument they had never tried before! Special thanks to Mary Kamine and her VPK class at the Little House Next Door for having us.
